I had a problem with a recent subscription to a professional listing in the online marketing directory of my phone company. I had consented during an unsolicited high pressured marketing phone call from them. Soon after the call I reconsidered and vainly tried to get them to cancel it. Their representatives chattered on about a binding one year contract that was uncalleable. When I started to receive astronomical phone bills I realized that I had not been given full disclosure of all the regular monthly billing charges involved with this service, necessary for an informed consent from me.
Repeated calls to my server requesting cancellation were met with obstinate refusal. I did not know where to turn to until an AACI counsellor recommended Tzvi. I contacted Tzvi and within a few weeks I received a call from the server agreeing to cancel the service as a result of the intervention of a lawyer – a reference to Tzvi.
I feel that Tzvi is a valuable service available to new immigrants who are vulnerable to questionable business practices in Israel.

My son accumulated debts for a phone contract that he thought he closed upon leaving Israel for a year after IDF service and for national health insurance that kept billing him in spite of the fact that he was in the US.To make a long story short ,he returned to Israel to study and upon his visit home between semesters, he was stopped at the airport ,detained and needed to pay the large sum before allowed to leave the country. baal habait in small claims court in Jerusalem. They only accept claims in Hebrew and my Hebrew is not proficient at all. I received an appointment as soon as I could come to their offices. I met with Tzvi and they spent about 2 hours helping me file the case. They filled out all the paperwork for me in Hebrew and gave me directions so that all I had to do was drop it off at the small claims court office. WOW !!! Tzvi has helped me, again. First, Tzvi helped me with a rental agreement I never should signed; Tzvi found the problems with agreement and spoke with the landlord on my behalf. Next, when I did find a great apartment with a sincere landlord, Tzvi checked both the real estate agent agreement and the rental agreement making sure it was OK before I signed it; lucky for me, Tzvi checked the real estate agent agreement since it said I pay the fee whether or not I rent the apartment. Now, I was offered a job (my first since aliyah) and the job required a contract. Of course, the contract was in Hebrew and since I do not know either Hebrew or Israeli contracts, I really needed Tzvi. Sure enough, Tzvi reviewed the contract and told me exactly which parts were not right. Thanks Tzvi !!! An oleh would be lost without you.

I am an Oleh Chadash who made Aliyah approx. 1.5 year ago. After working for 9 months for a Company in Tel Aviv (my first job in the Country), my employer decided to “reduce the terms” of the employment. In plain English, this means that he wanted me to continue to work for him but for less money. – – Not knowing my rights in Israel, I contacted Voleh (Tzvi S.). I was quickly directed to Ayelet Zigdon, a Lawyer specialized in Labour Law. Ayelet offered me to meet with her on the same day (I was supposed to have another meeting with my employer the day after, so I really appreciated her availability). – – I found the advices I got from Ayelet very professional and clear. In particular, she explained to me that in Israel it is legal (and quite common) for an – employer to “adjust down” the terms of the employment of an employee. – According to her, the fact that they want to reduce my wages now is – because I’m still within the first year of employment and therefore – not entitled to any severance pay in case of redundancy. She also gave – me some insights regarding notice period. Being an olah chadasha in Israel can be very scary when you’re involved in labor laws and other legal issues. You’re never sure if someone is taking you for a ride or trying to “screw” you because they think you don’t know any better. When I suspected I wasn’t getting what was coming to me, a friend sent me Voleh’s website address and suggested I find out what I’m entitled to – legally.
– So I emailed Tzvi. The email response told me I may have to wait up to a week to get an answer, which was a little disappointing, but understandable. However, I received a reply from Tzvi within 24 hours – and I’m sure it only took that long because Shabbat was in between.

If no response is received to enquiry letters from TV Licensing, an enquiry officer will call at the address to determine the licensing requirements. The aim of the visit is to enforce the law and enable TV Licensing to remove premises which do not require a TV License from their enquiries, to allow resources to be concentrated on those who do require one. If the enquiry officer confirms that no television receiving equipment is in use or installed to receive television programs, this information will be noted on the TV Licensing database and further standard letters will not be sent. TV Licensing will then only contact the address occasionally to check that circumstances haven’t changed.

I was ripped off by a mobile phone company (whose name is that of a certain citrus fruit), when they sold me an internet stick for an exorbitant monthly fee (in addition to mobile phone contract).

As a tourist who is constantly driving rental cars–if you license is in English it is not necessary to get an international driving license. ( which is really just a English and French card saying that you do indeed have a valid driving license in whatever language it may be!

The city is divided west-east by the Ayalon Freeway (freeway 20), which is the main artery of the city. It is best to avoid commuter traffic in and out of Tel Aviv and its surrounding cities during rush hours (Sunday to Thursday, 7:00-9:00 and 17:00-19:00); especially to be avoided is the entrance to Tel Aviv via Ayalon Freeway in morning rush hour, as it is one of the most busy freeways in the world. Also, it is important to note that Israeli drivers are considered to be rather rude and aggressive in comparison to their Western European or North American counterparts, but, The Israeli roads are modern and easy for orientation (the signposting is in English, Hebrew and Arabic).

Thank you Tzvi for all of your help. Our daughter, Ruth, was renting an apartment from a landlord who insisted that our payment had to a cash deposit into the landlord’s bank account. When the Israeli bank delayed cashing a check, causing the rent payment to be days late, the landlord threatened to evict our daughter on the spot, without court process. Our 19 year old daughter was forced to attend classes carrying her worldly possessions out of fear that she would be locked out of her apartment. Tzvi’s efforts stopped the lockout threats and enabled a negotiated resolution for the problem. My experience of having a debt in Israel has been very serious and I had made a big mistake by ignoring the situation. Debts with banks and companies will never just ‘go-away’. Face the situation immediately and know that there are professionals out there to help. I have been living in Israel for 5.5 years. In my first job in Israel (which was for the same company I worked for in the US), I made the mistake of trusting my (at the time) boss about what she told me the salary would be. I asked several times to get the amount in writing, but she never gave it to me. Fast forward to my first paycheck, and the amount was 1,300 NIS less than what she had told me (and it was my word versus hers, so I was screwed). Over the 4.5 years that I worked there, I was finally able to get paid a (somewhat) living wage. I decided to leave (no room for growth and with the start I had with my boss, you can imagine that the management wasn’t exactly ideal), and was very happy when I was offered a new job in my field that I feel is a step up, and has better pay and better benefits. However, in reviewing the contract, there were a few points that (in my now 5.5 years living in Israel) I was pretty sure were not exactly legal (in regard to vacation and sick days, travel reimbursement, etc). In this situation, I don’t think that my new boss is trying to screw me; he just really doesn’t know what is correct according to Israeli law.

I had heard about Voleh years ago and recommended them to people, but had never used their services before. I decided that this was the perfect opportunity. I called Tzvi and he was very helpful. He asked me to submit my exact questions on the website, and also to e-mail him my contract so he could review it. Within 24 hours he called me back and verified that the points in question were in fact not correct according to law, as I suspected. I was so happy with his help, that I asked if I could send a donation to Voleh. He told me that Voleh does not accept donations, but he would appreciate a comment on the site.
